Area families have several new hosts waiting for them this year at Old MacDonald's Farm, the Children's Zoo at Bever Park.

Gizmo (pictured above) is only a couple of months old but will have to be cared for at Old MacDonald's Farm this summer.  Unfortunately, Gizmo's mother refused to let him nurse, and the farm where he was born couldn't take on the extra task of bottle feeding him.  He'll spend the next few months at Bever Park, before returning home this fall.

Old MacDonald's Farm is also home to some new ducklings, and three piglets will arrive next month.  You can submit name suggestions for the "three little pigs" here.  The Zoo also features a donkey, goats, chickens, domestic ducks, parrots, rabbits, ferrets, and North American waterfowl.

The Zoo opens for the season Saturday, April 26. It's open daily, through October 5th, from 10am to 7pm with the exception of the Schuknecht Waterfowl Exhibit. This exhibit closes at 6:30 p.m. Also, some exhibits may close 15 to 20 minutes early due to feeding schedules. The baby animals will only be out if the weather is warm.

Old MacDonald's Farm is maintained and operated by Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation.  Admission is free.
