The above is a scene you won't be seeing at many retailers on Thanksgiving, and I think that's a very good thing. It's a holiday that should be about spending time with family... not just for would-be shoppers but all those workers employed at the stores as well. Best Black Friday's latest list shows 58 national retailers WON'T open their doors on turkey day. Almost half of them have stores in eastern Iowa. Here's the national retailers with eastern Iowa stores that will be telling employees and shoppers to stay home on Thanksgiving Day 2017:

  12. La-Z-Boy (all corporately-owned stores)
  13. Lowe's
  14. Mattress Firm
  15. Office Depot and OfficeMax
  16. Party City
  17. Petco
  18. PetSmart
  19. Pier 1 Imports
  20. Sam's Club
  21. Sprint (Corporate & Dealer Owned Stores; Mall Kiosks May Open)
  22. Staples
  23. TJ Maxx
  24. Tractor Supply
  25. Von Maur
