Perhaps it's weather like today, but Iowa is one of the happiest states in the union. The Hawkeye State ranks number seven on the list of the happiest states in the U.S.A.

More than two dozen factors were measured including weather, volunteer and work rates, as well as physical and emotional well-being.  If we had this type of weather everyday, there's no doubt we'd be number one.

Tops on the list?  Utah.  Yep, the Beehive State finished at the top because of a low divorce rate, lowest percentage of overweight people, highest sports participation rate, lowest average hours worked per week and the highest volunteerism rate.

The unhappiest?  That would be West Virginia.  Top five finishes in poor sleep, lack of sports participation, and obesity did in the Mountain State.

You'll notice a lot of Midwestern states among those with a smile on their faces.
