The price of gas in the state of Iowa is about to go up. State lawmakers on Tuesday approved a 10 cent increase in the state's gas tax. The bill now heads to the desk of Iowa governor Terry Branstad. He has 3 days to sign the bill, which he says he favors. The increase would then take effect the next month, March. The state is facing an estimated 215 million dollar budget shortfall for repair and construction of roads and bridges. Supporters say its the best way to handle the shortfall because the revenue can ONLY be spent on roads.  Critics say its just another tax, and that lawmakers should find other cuts within the budget to make up the shortfall.  No matter what side you're on, gas is going up. Again.
