See Amazing and Historic Iowa Barns During All-State Tour [PHOTOS]

Some of Iowa's most beautiful barns will be open this weekend for a self-guided tour.

Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17, are the dates for the 2023 Fall All-State Barn Tour across the state of Iowa. You'll be able to take a look around 72 different barns, including eight round ones.

The barns on the tour "have received matching grants from the Iowa Barn Foundation for their restoration (and/or) have received an Award of Distinction for restoration by their owner."

Here are some of the incredible barns on this fall's tour.

Secrest 1883 Octagonal Barn (5750 Osage Street, West Liberty)

The lowest level of this barn held 32 horses and 16 dairy cattle, while the top level was able to keep 200 tons of loose hay. The listing for the barn says "There is no barn like this anywhere in the world."

August and Josephine Riemenschneider Farmstead (201 4th Avenue N.E., State Center)

The unique horse barn below was built for a horse broker in 1902. It's now on the National Register of Historic Places.

In front of the barn is a Victorian house built in 1905.

Johnson Barn (4594 Vine Avenue, Sutherland)

This 2,000-square-foot barn was built for a dairy farmer in 1920. Hard as it is to believe, the 103-year-old cupolas and horse weathervanes are the originals.

Herb's Crib (23553 200th Avenue, Davenport)

It was built by Herbert Schneckloth, whose family emigrated from Germany in 1854. Constructed in 1926, it is 50 feet in diameter. All the work on the crib was done using hand tools, with the solid tile and ventilation block tile transported by both train and horse-drawn wagons from Adel to Davenport.

Oswald Barn (1071 Harken Hills Drive, Osceola)

Built as a beef barn in the 1930s, it can also be used as a show pavilion that will seat more than 700 people. The farm was visited many times by James Cash Penney, who started J.C. Penney decades earlier.
