Every Thursday we highlight a problem from a listener in the Counseling Corner. We give our advice and ask other listeners to offer advice. Here is our latest dilemma:

Hey Guys,

I love country music! My husband...does not. In the past 3 years of our marriage and the 3 years we dated before that, I have gone to dozens – if not hundreds of his rock concerts and shows, yet he refuses to go to any country concerts with me.

I got him to go to one ONCE, and afterwards he said “never again.” I don't mind the shows he likes and don't complain when he gets tickets to see those bands. But as soon as I say “Luke Bryan is coming...” I don't even get to finish before he says “I'm out.” This makes t he summer time so hard, because there are always so many great country music festivals and shows that come around, and I'd love to go with my husband, but we don't.

Here's is my little problem/question I have. I have a new co-worker who LOVES country music. We talk about artists and shows all the time. We share stories of past tours we've seen and who is the best. The only thing is...this new co-worker is a guy. I really want to start going to shows with him, but my husband hasn't been really receptive to the idea. I was hoping if I presented him with the idea of me going to a show with another guy, he'd get on board and say “fine I'll go.” But he just says, “no.”

What can I do....if anything?

Rebecca
