Meadowlark Lemon, one of the most famous Harlem Globetrotters of all time, has passed away. His wife Cynthia confirming the news that the basketball great died at the age of 83. Lemon was known for his hook shots that went in from nearly anywhere on the court, and for his on court antics which had the crowd errupting in laughter.

Meadowlark Lemon joined the Globetrotters in 1954. Within just a few years he had taken over the role of clown prince. It was a role that he carried with the Globetrotters for 22 years until he left the team in 1978. The Golobetrotters played around the world. They played in cities both small and large. They have frequented Cedar Rapids on numerous occasions. They have been worldwide ambassadors for the game of basketball. No one took that more serious than Meadowlark Lemon.
