Fire Crews Battle Blazes at Large Homes Near Solon and Mt. Vernon [PHOTOS]

Multiple area fire departments have been extremely busy this evening battling fires at homes both valued at more than one million dollars.

Fire crews first responded to a call in the 3900 block of Starry Night Ct NE, in rural Solon. The Johnson County Assessor's site shows the only property on that block is 3990 Starry Night Ct NE (below). The home's 2016 assessed value is $1,111,800.

Unfortunately, eastern Iowa fire crews weren't done. A multiple-alarm call went out for a fire at another large home, this one at 1396 Arrowhead Lane in rural Mt. Vernon. The two fires, a little more than a 30-minute drive from one another, required, at least, one department to respond to both.

According to the Linn County Assessor's site, the rural Mt. Vernon home (below) had an assessed value of 1,274,500 in 2015.

The response to the fire was a massive one, involving 17 different fire departments. The Linn County Sherrif's Office reports the Mount Vernon Fire Department received assistance from Cedar Rapids, Marion, West Bertram, Lisbon, Springville, Ely, Martelle, Stanwood, Mechanicsville, Clarence, Alburnett, Anamosa, Olin, Swisher, Central City and Morley Fire Departments. The Linn County Sherrif's Rescue, Linn County Sherrif's Deputies, and Lisbon/Mount Vernon Ambulance also responded to the scene.
