Finishing The Fight

This past weekend, my wife Misty and I took part in our fifth Relay For Life event.  The weather was outstanding and the crowd was pumped up as  the night started at Kirkwood Community College.

One of my favorite things at the Relay is the first lap of the night - "The Survivors/Caregivers Lap."  This lap is led by those who face the battle every single day - whether they are a cancer survivor or giving care to those who have cancer.

This year's theme was "superheroes" and the mantra was "Finish The Fight."  There were plenty of costumes mixed in with the American Cancer Society shirts.

People Relay for so many different reasons.  To celebrate life, to remember, to raise money for the fight against cancer are just a few of them.  It's hard to believe that this year's event has come and gone.  As much as I love the Relay For Life, I can't wait until the year when we no longer need it and cancer is defeated!
