Fearing the Bill

On my way home last night, for whatever reason, I started fearing "the bill."  This time of the year, at our house, that's the natural gas bill.  

When the brutal cold is here, my thought process is survival...for us and our furnace.  After it begins to subside, that's when I start to fear the bill that's on its way.  Strangely enough, the bill was waiting for me in the mailbox last night.  The numbers?  

Avg temp January 2013-25 degrees.  

Avg temp January 2014-13 degrees.  Gulp.  

I knew there was no way this was going to be good.  Amount due:  $90.  A mix of surprise and thankfulness washed over me.  Less than three dollars per day (34 day billing cycle this time around) for warmth and comfort.  Thank you Mid American Energy...that's money well spent.
