Additional Information

Everyone is invited to attend the Health & Wellness Festival from 3pm-6pm. The Festival will bring together more than 30 groups ranging from crisis responders to yoga practitioners to mini horses (in the rec center parking lot). Activities will include raffles, food sampling, a bouncy slide, a chance to meet therapy dogs, music, free items (including a bike helmet) and much more. Successful Living and Sankofa Outreach Connection are sponsoring the Health and Wellness Festival. The City of Iowa City Office of Equity/Human Rights is hosting the event. The event is free and open to the public – the whole community is encouraged to attend!

Successful Living works with people with chronic mental health issues, and views mental health as one element of the healthy mind/body/spirit dynamic – which involves our entire community. Sankofa Outreach Connection’s mission is to connect and empower women of color in Johnson County. The spirit of the Festival is to highlight services and activities that help all of us improve the quality of our lives, to bring us good health and good living. Groups participating include Field to Table, Mercy Wellness, the Police Crisis Intervention Team, the Iowa City Public Library, Johnson County Public Health, the Crisis Center of Johnson County, NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), DVIP, RVAP, the La’James School, Elder Services and more. We wish to thank The Equity/Human Rights office, Hills Bank, Hy Vee, AW Welt Ambrisco, among others.

There will be free parking at the meters on the east side of the Center.
