An opioid and prescription drug abuse epidemic is sweeping the country, impacting all segments of society.

The FBI and DEA recently released the documentary, Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict, to help raise awareness about this epidemic and educate young people on the dangers of addiction. The film is a compilation of first-person accounts by addicts and family members of addicts about their experiences.

A special movie showing is scheduled for Sunday, September 25 from 2-4 p.m. at the Collins Road Theatres. A question/answer session will follow. It is presented in Marion by the Eastern Iowa Heroin Initiative, Community Resources United to Stop Heroin (C.R.U.S.H.) of Eastern Iowa, Collins Road Theatres, Mercy Care Marion, Unity Point Clinic and the Marion Police Department.

Complimentary popcorn and soda will be provided.

The film does contain some adult language. It is intended for young adults/adults and not young children.
