If this isn't one of the coolest things I've come across this summer, in the Hawkeye state, I don't know what is. This is exactly what sports should be for younger teenage kids. When you're a young teenager, sports should be fun, they should teach you how to work hard, and they should help you make lifelong friends.

If you weren't in attendance this past Wednesday (August - 16), you missed one heck of a Wiffle ball world series held right here in eastern Iowa. This Wiffle ball league reminds me of a movie called "The Sandlot."

In Williamsburg, Iowa, you can find teenagers playing in the BWB Wiffle ball league and sadly, they're summer season has come to a close. According to KCRG, fans watched the Hawks take on the Longhorns in the league's world series matchup. To increase the level of fun and excitement, the BWB league was allowed to have its championship series held at the Williamsburg high school baseball field.

One of the things I personally find the most interesting about the BWB Wiffle ball league is that it is completely run by kids. How sweet is that? A league for kids that is run by kids. What an awesome way to learn some valuable life lessons about planning and scheduling, while also getting to have some fun with your friends. According to KCRG, there are 8 teams in the league and it is only the second summer the BWB has been playing games.

It's HARD to get this many kids to commit to something and consistently show up to do something, especially during the summer. The fact that these kids wanted to create a Wiffle ball league and now have one with 8 teams in it is honestly incredible. The league is also continuing to grow!

Wes Stoner is the Commissioner of the BWB and he spoke to KCRG about possibly adding a "minor league" and also a league for kids in the grades below.

I still have to talk to my parents about next year. We’re thinking about adding a grade below and a minor league. It’s great. Nathan King let us play again and hopefully, a lot of people show up this year. Last year, I think it was 113 came. We’re hoping for more this year.

113 kids showed up to play in a kid ran league. I'm blown away. I would've loved being able to do this when I was a kid. These teenagers had jerseys and medals made for crying out loud! This summer had to have been an absolute blast for these kids.

Kudos and congrats to the BWB Wiffle ball league for wanting to have some fun this summer and actually going out to make it happen. I can't wait to see how much it grows next summer.
