RBF, also known as CBF, is a real thing and many of us struggle with it everyday.

If you are unfamiliar with the term "RBF" it stands for "resting *witch* face," and "CBF" stands for "chronic *witch* face." It is defined on Urban Dictionary as: "a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to."

After being in a quick 15-second commercial on TV this past weekend, I've once again been reminded of my condition and how much of a struggle it really is. I've had RBF for as long as I can remember, and so I'm going to help some of you right now by giving you some of the signs and symptoms. The first step to recovery is to acknowledge and understand the condition. You may have RBF if...

  • People often ask you, "are you ok?" or, "are you mad at me?"
  • People think you're being serious or mean when you try to make a joke
  • Strangers come up to you and tell you to smile more
  • People tell you they were intimidated to talk to you the first time because they thought you looked angry and unfriendly
  • People constantly tell you you look tired and ask if you're having a good time

Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for RBF. We are all pretty much screwed. The only time I look friendly and approachable is if I REALLY concentrate, which gets to be exhausting. I've learned to just embrace my RBF and be as friendly as possible when people do get the nerve to come up and talk to me, so they know that I'm not ACTUALLY a miserable person.

I can't be the only one out there with this problem! Does anyone else struggle with RBF? How do you handle it? Share your response below!
