Courtlin Gets To Try Some Iowa Made Goodies!
On Monday, I got to try a few foods that Courtlin enjoyed when she lived in Michigan. I tried her favorite ice cream, potato chips and several kinds of soda. It was fun to try them, as I'd never enjoyed them before. Immediately following my Taste of Michigan, I thought...why not bring in some similar foods and beverages made right here in Iowa for Courtlin to try? Now, I couldn't bring in every unique food that Iowa has to offer. She'll have to venture out and try them herself! But here are a few items that Courtlin, and the rest of you can find at a store near you!
- Millstream Root Beer. Made and bottled in the Amana Colonies! They brew some great beers and wines too, but they tend to frown on trying those at work.
- Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Made in Le Mars, Iowa. Found in stores everywhere. My personal favorite flavor? Bunny Tracks!
- Great American Popcorn. Right across from the Newbo Market in Cedar Rapids. Countless flavors to choose from. I got the Newbo, which is butter, cheese and caramel popcorns.
- Sterzing's Potato Chips. Made in Burlington, Iowa. They bill themselves as possibly the best potato chip in the world. I hope we can decide after just one bag.
These are just a few Iowa made products you can find in stores. There are many more local shops and restaurants that create uniquely Iowa items everyday. Go find them and enjoy!
