A few months ago, a woman was kidnapped from her home and days later was released. The police department pretty much called both her and her boyfriend liars. Now, an arrest has been made and they've been proven innocent. Or have they?

It's a case that's been compared to to the movie 'Gone Girl,' where a woman fakes her own disappearance. In reality, it appears 29-year old Denise Huskins and boyfriend Aaron Quinn were victims of a home invasion on March 23rd. Quinn was drugged and Huskins was thrown into the trunk of a car and taken to Huntington Beach, California, her hometown She was dropped off there just before a reported $8500 ransom was due. That very day, police in Vallejo, California called the entire thing a hoax.

Now, Matthew Muller, a disbarred lawyer has been charged with her kidnapping. He's also been charged in two other California home invasions. There appears to be good evidence on Muller. Investigators recovered a laptop that resembled one that Quinn had. A stolen car turned up a water pistol and flashlight and a laser pointer... all items reportedly used in the invasion.

Still, questions remain. Why did Quinn wait 12 hours before calling the police? Why was Huskins dropped off in her hometown, 400 miles away? Strange coincidence? Hopefully. It's easy to see why police had their doubts. Still, to publicly announce two people are guilty of a hoax? It could be a very expensive mistake, because undoubtedly a lawsuit is coming. This is one of those times I believe it's warranted.
