Dear Brain and Steele,

With Mother’s Day coming up, I thought I’d write you with this situation my wife and I are having.  We’ve been married for about 7 months now.  We both want to have kids someday, but we haven’t started that part of our lives yet.

Recently, my wife made the comment “I can’t wait to see what you’re getting me for Mother’s Day.”  I brushed it off, thinking that she was just kidding.  But she has repeated the statement the past several weeks, and I believe that she is expecting something.

I don’t know what to think.  We don’t have kids.  Heck, we don’t even have pets.  Both of our parents live close, so I’ve suggested we get together and have Mother’s Day with OUR moms.  Her response:  “But what about me?”

How on earth do I handle this one?  I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but c’mon.  She’s not a mother yet.

Thanks

Rob
