Cedar Rapids Woman Facing Attempted Murder & 9 Other Charges

Incidents in Cedar Rapids late Sunday afternoon have resulted in no less than 10 different charges against a Cedar Rapids woman.

According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, a call came into Joint Communications Agency Dispatchers just before 6 p.m. Sunday (September 17) night reporting a stabbing in the 1500 block of Washington Ave SE.

When officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department arrived on the scene they found 63-year-old Willey Davis of Cedar Rapids injured. According to Cedar Rapids Police, Davis had been stabbed multiple times.

Davis was treated on the scene and taken to a local hospital. His injuries are non-life-threatening, according to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

Other officers found a car and driver that matched the description of the person believed to be involved in the incident. They attempted to stop the driver, who led officers on a pursuit that ended in the Cedar Rapids Police Department parking lot.

40-year-old Latoya N. Taylor of Cedar Rapids was arrested and faces a total of 10 different charges. They are:

• Attempted Murder
• OWI (3rd Offense)
• Leaving Scene of Accident-Property Damage Only
• Reckless Driving
• Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device
• Improper Use of Lanes
• Failure to Maintain Control
• Proof of Insurance (failure to provide security against liability)
• Eluding-Speed over 25 over limit
• Driving While Barred

Taylor is behind held without bond on the Attempted Murder charge at the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department says the investigation continues.
