4th Avenue southeast, currently a two-way street between 1st and 5th Streets in downtown Cedar Rapids is ready to expand the area it serves with two-way traffic.

4th Avenue will turn into a two-way street all the way from 1st Street to 19th, beginning this Friday. Work is being finished and signage and new pavement markings will be added as well.

This is just the beginning as a number of other Avenues and Streets will also be undergoing the transformation, to better help the flow and safety of traffic.
