I know the great outdoors is full of wildlife. I'm fine with that wildlife occasionally venturing into my backyard. I am NOT OK with that wildlife defecating all over my yard. Over the past several weeks my wife and I have noticed large piles of animal droppings not only in our yard, but also in the flower beds and mulch up around our house! I know that a dog wouldn't do that, so that only leaves one other option. Raccoons. I've seen them occasionally in our neighborhood before and I've even had a trash can knocked over too. But I've never had them leaving the kind of mess they're leaving. I scoop it all up to throw it away, and there's more back the next morning! Here is what they are doing around our house. Warning...the following picture contains poop.

I've done a little research online, and it seems that raccoons can develop favorite spots to make such deposits. Great...my house is a raccoon crapping hot spot. So now the question is how to I get them to stop. Has anyone else had this problem? I live in town, so drastic measures like poisons and shotguns are out of the question. Plus, I really don't want to use live traps either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
