It was a nostalgic Monday night at the Brainard home. With all the prom pictures popping up on newsfeeds everywhere, my wife Holly decided to dig out some of her old prom dresses from the 1990's. She still has the dresses she wore her sophomore, junior, and senior year. My daughter's Carly and Cayleigh decided they wanted in on the act too.

Holly put her sophomore year dress, Cayleigh is wearing junior year and Carly got senior year. The most frightening part? How well Carly fit into the dress my wife wore when she was 17! Sure, there are a couple of areas that aren't quite filled out, but the length and everything else was nearly a perfect fit! I doubt they'll want to wear them when they get to high school. But who knows...styles have a way of coming back!

The other thing Holly found was my old class ring. Yes, Anamosa class of 1993 Jostens class ring. It doesn't fit my ring finger anymore, no shock there. I posted it on Facebook and it started the conversation about class rings. How many people got them? Do seniors still order them today? Or are they a relic from another time.

It was fun to look at mine for awhile last night. It brought back a few memories from high school. Remember giving your ring to a girl? I do. I offered to put it on a necklace for Holly so I could be close to her heart. She didn't see the humor. A trip down memory lane was finally put away.
