Christmas is supposed to be a magical time for children everywhere.  My parents always did a great job no matter how much money they did or didn't have, at making Christmas fun for my brother and I.  But there was one Christmas memory that sticks out in my mind more than any other.

I'm not sure of the year, but my brother and I had opened up all of our gifts, and were beginning to play with some of our favorites.  But wait....Mom said she forgot something and it was here in the closet.  My mother proceeded to pull out a Nintendo gaming system.  Now imagine how 2 unsuspecting boys would react to that!  We went nuts!  We began jumping around the living room and shouting things we probably shouldn't have.  I nearly knocked over our tree!  All the while, my unapproving grandparents sat on the couch and watched in horror.

That memory will always stick with me.  Partly because of the chaos my brother and I caused.  But mostly because of what my parents did.  Now that I have kids of my own, I realize how tough it can be to buy gifts each year.  No matter how much you spend, it's about making memories, and making the holidays magical for kids of all ages.
