Look Inside New Ship Cruising the Mississippi River in Iowa and Beyond

A new cruise ship is making trips along the Mississippi River with several routes, two of which include visits to Iowa.

American Cruise Lines has put a total of six modern riverboats on the Mississippi River in the last five years. That's an amazing feat, especially when you consider the COVID-19 pandemic fell smack in the middle of the expansion.

The newest ship on the river is called American Serenade. American Cruise Lines says the 180-passenger ship "introduces an updated modern interior design, integrating an elegant and refined aesthetic with our tradition for the spacious comfort found aboard all of our ships."

American Serenade is a five-deck cruise ship with staterooms varying in size from 250 to 650 square feet. They all have full-size bathrooms and private balconies.

American Cruise Lines' American Serenade begins an 8-day/7-night cruise of the upper portion of the Mississippi River on Thursday, September 7. Our Quad Cities says the ship will be docking at River Heritage Park in Dubuque on Sunday, September 10 for its official ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m.

American Serenade will continue to tour the upper Mississippi River through mid-October. It will then embark on a 15-day/14-night trip from St. Paul, Minnesota to New Orleans, Louisiana on October 12. It will continue to cruise the lower portion of the Mississippi River through the end of the year.
