A Local Gym is Offering Self-Defense Classes for Women
Later on this month, Hard Drive Performance Center in Cedar Rapids will be offering a couple of classes for women interested in learning self-defense. They have just opened up a brand new, state-of-the-art training facility at 712 3rd Ave SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids, so it's a perfect opportunity to get a peek at the new gym while learning some new skills!
There are two options when it comes to dates and times. The first class is on Saturday, August 25th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second class is Sunday, August 26th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Each class will teach the same things, so you only need to choose one date. It will cost $50 per person.
I don't know about you, but I've seen a LOT of posts on Facebook lately from local women who have been followed in places like grocery stores and parking lots, and it really freaks me out. It's actually one of the reasons I started training at Hard Drive in the first place. I started taking kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu in November of last year in order to feel more confident in solo situations. We as women should not have to fear for our safety when we're out on our own, so why not learn a few skills to protect yourself, just in case?

Hard Drive will be having a grand opening celebration at their new facility on August 18th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature live music, refreshments, free wrestling clinics for kids, and a Jiu-Jitsu seminar. For more info on that, you can click HERE. Hope to see you there!
