98.1 KHAK First Responder Friday Honors Austin McAtee

Each Friday morning at 6:30 a.m., 98.1 KHAK's Brain & Courtlin pay tribute to an Eastern Iowa first responder. The weekly honoree receives a $25 gift card to Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford and a $25 gift card to Honor and Respect.

Today we honor Austin McAtee, who was nominated by his sister Kelly Versendaal! The entry reads:

"At just 31 years old, my brother Austin has been volunteering for almost half of his life, providing emergency care through the Olin Ambulance Service and Olin Fire Department. He was one of the first in our small town to participate in the Junior EMT/Fire programs at just 16-years-old, and has since dedicated countless hours to the town of Olin. Austin is a humble and hardworking husband and father to two boys that adore and look up to him. I don't think it takes many words to explain how proud we are. As the saying goes, 'a picture is worth a thousand words.'"
