The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will take another group of veterans from the state to Washington D.C. on Tuesday. The flight is scheduled to leave at 5:30 a.m. and return to Cedar Rapids at 9:30 p.m.

The veterans along with their guardians will fly to our nation's capital to visit memorials and other sites. Stops will include the World War 2 memorial, Korean and Vietnam War memorials, Arlington National Cemetery and more. Among the veterans traveling tomorrow are 60 from the Vietnam war, 32 from the Korean war, and one from World War 2.

Many of these veterans never received a proper welcome home or thank you for their service. Residents are urged to come out to the Eastern Iowa Airport and welcome them home from the honor flight. Parking will be free of charge for those wishing to attend.

Since flights began in 2009, Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has taken over 2600 veterans and their guardians to Washington D.C. and back.
