A Cedar Rapids Chinese Restaurant is Closing This Month

It's not goodbye, it's see you later!

On Wednesday, May 7th, Cedar Rapids Chinese restaurant Yen Ching announced on Facebook that they would be closing their doors at the end of the month. But, it's not a permanent closure! The restaurant is hoping to relocate to another building.

Why Are They Closing?

According to the Facebook post, Yen Ching's decision to close their restaurant at 2317 Mount Vernon Road SE was not an easy one. The post reads:

"Despite our deep roots here and the incredible community we’ve built together, we are being forced out by exorbitant rent hikes and excessive demands. Though we fought to stay, the harsh reality is that we can no longer sustain operations here."

The good news is that Yen Ching is not planning on being closed for good! They are on a mission to find a new home and reopen sometime in the future.

Where Will the New Location Be?

As of right now, we don't know. All the post says is that Yen Ching is "actively searching for a new home," and that they hope their loyal customers will support them in their "new chapter." They will keep the community updated with the latest information via the official Facebook page, which you can check out HERE.

When is Their Last Day in Business?

Yen Ching will remain open for delivery and pickup on Mount Vernon Road SE until the end of the month. Their final day in business will be Friday, May 30th. That means you still have a few weeks to enjoy their food! The current hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday & Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can check out the menu and place an order online HERE.
