World’s Largest John Deere Gathering Is Here In Iowa
March is really the month for green. We have Saint Patrick’s Day tomorrow, and Iowa houses the largest gathering of green tractor enthusiasts in the world in Davenport.
That’s right, the John Deere tractor.
"If you are buying or are going to buy or own a John Deere tractor or implement, we'll help you figure out what, how, when, how much it's going to cost to restore your tractor," Knobbe said, "and we also offer other workshops on other interesting topics."
Other workshops aren’t focused on just tractors. According to the Gathering of the Green website, you can attend workshops for basket weaving, beekeeping, and scrapbooking.
But for those looking to learn about tractors, there are a plethora of workshops on them as well.
The event this year is almost like a “reboot” of the event. The 2020 theme for the event was supposed to be “Its Fair Time”, which is the theme this year,
"We've got tractors displayed throughout the RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa as if you're walking into the John Deere tent at your local or state fair back from the 1930s through the '70s," he said.
And this isn’t a small event. Knobbe said they are expecting three-thousand enthusiasts from 40 states and six foreign countries.
"We'll have evening speakers, executives from Deere and Company. We'll have John Deere's great-great-great-grandson Sandy Hewitt on hand Friday night," Knobbe said. "We have trips and tours of local manufacturing plants, museums, collections of some of our hobbyists from the area."
Displays at the event will take people back to what John Deere fair displays from the 1930s and 1970s. The event will take place through Saturday.
