I'm been doing country radio now for over 17 years.  One of the things I enjoy most about being involved in the music industry, is watching up and coming artists hit the airwaves.  Not all of them will become stars.  Some won't even make it past that first single.  So which new artists do I think have a shot at making it in today's country music world?

I like what Cole Swindell is doing.  Eric Paslay is off to a great start with his first two singles too.  But the singer the has my attention right now is Sam Hunt.  His first single is Leave the Night On, and he's opening for Kip Moore at the Paramount Theater on October 3rd.  He's been in Nashville working as a singer/songwriter for about 5 years, and got his start as a songwriter.  Some of the hits he's written include Keith Urban's Cop Car, Billy Currington's We Are Tonight, and Kenny Chesney's Come Over.  Two of those have hit number 1, and Billy Currington's is on the way to the top.

While my track record isn't perfect, Sam Hunt looks like a future star to me.  Check out his video for Leave the Night On!
