Where To See The Best Christmas Light Displays in Iowa
Christmas is coming!! You've probably already seen lights going up in your neighborhood, some more extravagant than others. But, if you're looking for the best places to feast your eyes on some incredible Christmas lights in the Hawkeye State, we've got you covered.
Jolly Holiday Lights- Altoona
Travel + Leisure compiled a list of 'The Best Christmas Light Displays in Every State'. For Iowa, the winner is Jolly Holiday Lights at Adventureland! You'll take a "2.5 mile ride through more than 100 magical light displays"! Take your holiday cheer to the place that's been lighting up the holiday for more than 20 years starting at 5:30 p.m. through December 30. The park will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All of the proceeds from your admission go to Make a Wish Iowa.
The City of Christmas Display- Keokuk
The City of Christmas display in Keokuk is another great destination for Christmas lights. It features over 100 glowing displays and a million lights running through December 26.
Blue Creek Christmas- Center Point
If you don't want to make the drive to Altoona or Keokuk, there are other light displays in eastern Iowa for your viewing pleasure. Blue Creek Christmas is a short drive north of Cedar Rapids with over 90,000 lights synchronized to more than 25 minutes of music! The show runs through January 7 and it's FREE!
The Amana Colonies-Amana
The charming Amana Colonies are a delightful place to be around Christmas. They have several pre-Christmas festivities according to Only In Your State, and you can see "over 40 Christmas trees decked out with twinkling holiday lights". Check it out for yourself Fridays through Sundays.
Christmas City Celebration-Wyoming
This little city in Jones County features a "canopy of Christmas lights that span four blocks along the Main Street," according to Only In Your State. There's even a tree lighting celebration on Sunday, December 3!
Anamosa
Jones County's Anamosa also made Only In Your State's list of magical light displays in Iowa. Take a little drive down Main Street for some stunning displays.
