I know that there are plenty of people out there that love winter and are pretty bummed that we didn't see more snow this month. But I am not one of those people. I'm excited I can see my lawn again, and that signs of spring are beginning to pop. This February was one to forget if you like large snowfall events.

We almost got more measurable snow this month, but the big one that was forecast for Tuesday went south. Sorry snow lovers. Now the extended forecast calls for dry conditions until next week. That means that depending on where you live, February was one of the driest on record. Cedar Rapids got only 0.7 inches, one of the lowest February totals ever. The least snow in Cedar Rapids was in 1977 and 1987 at just a trace. The most ever fell in 1962 when the city got 27.9 inches!

Iowa City has only received 1 inch of snow this month. 1987 and 1998 both had NO snow in Iowa City. The snowiest February in IC was 2008 with 29.7 inches.

Don't think we're out of the woods completely. What's that old saying about March? Something about a lion and lamb I believe.
