Iowa’s ‘Best’ Food Festival is Happening This Weekend

We have quite a few festivals that revolve around food here in Iowa, but only one could be named the very best! According to Love Food, that Iowa festival is the West Point Sweet Corn Festival!

The West Point Sweet Corn Festival is held annually in Lee County, and the 2024 event officially kicked off yesterday, August 8th. It will run through Sunday, August 11th, with a ton of different activities! The schedule includes:

• FREE hot, buttered sweet corn
• BBQ chicken dinners
• A sweet corn eating contest
• BINGO
• Live entertainment
• A carnival
• A 5k/10k
• A cornhole tournament
• Craft vendors
• A parade

On Wednesday, the West Point Sweet Corn Festival held their annual 'Shuckfest,' where volunteers prepared 17 TONS of sweet corn for the 2024 festival! The slogan for 2024 is: "West Point Field of Dreams - If you shuck it, they will come!"

Another awesome food festival that's happening this weekend is the St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival in Cedar Rapids! They're serving up 18,000 ears of corn, plus they have a beer tent, live music, games, rides, a huge raffle, and more!
