I have always had a soft spot in my heart for good ole American muscle cars. I daydream about stumbling upon a classic vehicle tucked away in someone's garage unnoticed. That led me on a quest to find videos of some of Iowa's sweetest barn finds of vintage American automotive awesomeness.

The only "muscle car" I've had to privilege of owning was a 1982 Pontiac Firebird. If I'm being honest with myself, it wasn't really a "muscle car" per se. It only had a 6-cylinder engine unlike the 8-cylinder in a real Trans Am. (Pro-tip: If you flip the air filter upside down, it will make your Firebird sound like a real Trans Am. Don't ask me how I know)

Here are some of the most epic muscle car barn finds that have ever been discovered in Iowa.

1967 Shelby GT500 Cobra

That was discovered near Des Moines a couple years ago. That seller was fortunate to have an appraiser estimate the value of this sweet ride and had a fatter wallet because of it.

1976 Ford Gran Torino

The rural Iowa farm had a field (literally) of collectible muscle cars. Classic Chevelle's, Chevy Novas, etc. But, the real gem is the 1976 Ford Gran Torino. Yes, that's the vehicle made famous by Starsky and Hutch in the 1970's.

1937 BMW Works 328 Veritas

By definition, this 1937 BMW Works 328 Veritas is not a muscle car. What it is though is a classic racing car that was found tucked away in an Iowa garage. This bad boy was the class of its field back in the day.

1970 Chevelle SS396

A rare Flint, Michigan built 1970 Chevelle SS396 4-speed featuring Code 63 Desert Sand exterior? Sign me up for that. Original paint, original engine and just sitting in an Iowa barn since 1972.

Excuse me while I drool and see if my wife will let me borrow the checkbook for a few minutes.
