ORIGINAL STORY:
If you noticed a large police presence in southwest Cedar Rapids this morning, we now know the reasoning behind it. According to KCRG, the Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to a call from Associated Materials, located at 3801 Beverly Road SW, at 5:03 this morning. The article states:
"Police said a suspect went into the business and shot two victims before leaving the property. The suspect is still at large."
The two victims are still alive and appear to have non-life threatening injuries. It is believed to be an act of workplace violence and not a random act, with officials saying that the suspect is "believed to be known to police." Because this is an active situation, the CRPD is requesting that the public avoid the area.
As the story develops throughout the morning, we will keep this article up to date with any new information.
