Officials confirm that two Guthrie County Sheriff's deputies were shot while trying to serve a warrant late Thursday night.

For about an hour late Thursday night, an armed individual had barricaded themselves inside an apartment at the Summit Street Apartment complex in Stuart, Iowa. Stuart is around 40 miles west of Des Moines. By 1 a.m. this morning, police say that the standoff had been resolved and one person was in custody.

A MercyOne Des Moines spokesperson said that three law enforcement officers were being treated at their hospital. Besides the deputies who were shot, another officer was also injured in the standoff. The two deputies are believed to be in stable condition.

Dispatch recordings shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday include an unidentified law enforcement officer describing exchanges of gunfire at the apartment building. Law enforcement arrived shortly thereafter, including a SWAT team and set up a perimeter around the building.
