Two Iowa Cities Made the List of the Best Cities for Singles
If you're single and living in Des Moines or Cedar Rapids, you're in the right place! A new study from WalletHub reveals that both cities in Iowa made the good half of the 2020 list of the 'Best & Worst Cities for Singles.' The article reads:
"To help America’s singles find love, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 32 key indicators of dating-friendliness."
Some of those "key indicators" are the percentage of singles, online dating opportunities, average cost of activities like going out to restaurants and movies, and one-bedroom apartment rates.
Out of all 182 cities on the list, Des Moines came in at number 36. It was 18th for 'Economics,' 78th for 'Fun & Recreation,' and 70th for 'Dating Opportunities.' Cedar Rapids was a little further down the list coming in at number 52. We ranked 48th for 'Economics,' 65th for 'Fun & Recreation,' and 90th for 'Dating Opportunities.' Cedar Rapids was also ranked number one in the entire country for 'Lowest Rent for One-Bedroom Apartment!'
If you're looking to relocate to one of the best states for singles, the top five overall are:
- Madison, Wisconsin
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Denver, Colorado
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Columbia, South Carolina
Personally, I haven't had much luck dating here in Cedar Rapids. But, then again, I'm not really a fan of it. I think I lasted about 45 minutes on Tinder before I deleted the app. And the coronavirus pandemic certainly hasn't made things easier for singles trying to meet someone! Maybe 2021 will bring a little more luck.
