If you've ever found yourself trying to squeeze a 164 character tweet into 140, all your Twitter problems may soon be over!

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to post a really good tweet, but I had to use "u" instead of "you," or "&" instead of "and," or even leave out spaces in-between words likethis. Sometimes I've done a sequence of separate tweets to get all of my thoughts in. As annoying as it sometimes is, I think we've all accepted the Twitter character limit as a necessary evil.

Well, those days of trying to squeeze all of your words in may soon be over! Twitter is thinking of expanding the 140 character limit to 10,000. Yes, I said 10,000. That's basically an essay! You won't see all 10,000 characters, though. You will only see the first 140, and the rest will be viewable with a "read more" button underneath.

Personally, I think this character increase kind of takes away from the appeal of Twitter. What's to stop people from posting long, drawn-out rants similar to Facebook statuses? That's right... nothing. Although I do see how it could be an improvement, I think the creativity factor will die down a little. I love reading funny short and sweet tweets, rather than extensive, wordy jokes. I think maybe increasing it to like, 500 would be a better option, but that's just my opinion.

How do you feel about the possible twitter character increase? Do you love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments!
