Try Food from Around the World at a Big Iowa Festival This Month
It's been busy here in Iowa! There have been all sorts of great concerts and markets and festivals these past few months, including quite a few that are centered around my favorite thing: FOOD.
You'll be able to try all kinds of different food at the 2022 World Food & Music Festival in Des Moines this month! The three day event is set for Friday, September 16th through Sunday, September 18th at Western Gateway Park in Downtown Des Moines. The festival is in its 18th year and has grown exponentially since it started back in 2005. According to the official website, around 90,000 people visit the event each year!
If you're not familiar with the World Food & Music Festival, the website says:
"The event offers international cuisine, live music and performing arts, cooking demonstrations, interactive programs, wine and craft beers and much more."
This year's festival will host nearly 50 vendors from 27 different countries. Some of the countries represented include Jamaica, Vietnam, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Mexico, Japan, France, and Pakistan. You can check out a full list of vendors and what they'll be serving HERE. There will also be plenty of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, as well as specialty drinks that will be available at the Festival Front Porch.
As far as music goes, the Friday night headliners are Parranderos Latin Combo and the Saturday night headliner is the Grammy-nominated blues-Americana band Southern Avenue. A press release reads:
"The rest of the Main Stage lineup includes a plethora of musical acts including Gateway Dance Theater, FOY Irish Dancers, Soten Taiko Japanese drums, Morningstar Dance Troupe and more."
