Toby Keith’s Annual Golf Classic Raises Nearly $1.2 Million
Toby Keith's 13th Annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic was nicknamed "Lucky 13," and it's easy to see why. This year's event, held June 3-4 in Oklahoma, raised $1.175 million for Keith's foundation OK Kids Korral, which is a haven for families of children receiving cancer treatment.
The annual event opened with a gala and dinner that was headlined by Asleep at the Wheel. The following day's celebrity golf tournament capped the festivities. An auction Friday evening included a golf package that visits five Irish castles, a South African rifle and bow hunt, a signed and framed piece from the estate of Ronald and Nancy Reagan and a rare signed album by Elvis Presley. Additionally, sports memorabilia from Cam Newton, the Chicago Bulls, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Peyton Manning, Roger Clemens, the Boston Red Sox, Mia Hamm, Greg Jennings, Eli Manning, Nolan Ryan and Calvin Johnson, and music items from Jimmy Buffett, Ted Nugent, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, George Lopez, Flaming Lips and Heart also had high bids.
“This event and our USO Tours are the best things we get to do all year,” Keith said of last year’s tournament. “I’ve been blessed with healthy kids, and I’m more than blessed to bring a bunch of folks together who want to help folks who haven’t. The great time we have — and we do have one, now — is a far distant second to making a difference for kids and families right here where we live.”
Keith is on the road with his 2016 Interstates & Tailgates Tour, which features Eric Paslay as opener.
