The Top TV Shows and Movies of 2018 [LISTS]
As we get closer to the end of 2018, we are going to be seeing a WHOLE lot of 'year-end' lists. This morning I came across one from The American Film Institute, which outlines their picks for the top 10 TV shows and movies of the year. How did they come to their conclusion? The article states:
"AFI AWARDS honorees are selected based on works that advance the art of the moving image, enhance the rich cultural heritage of America’s art form, inspire audiences and artists alike and make a mark on American society."
In alphabetical order, here are the top ten movies:
- BlacKkKlansman (95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- Black Panther (97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- Eighth Grade (99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- The Favourite (94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- First Reformed (93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- Green Book (83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- If Beale Street Could Talk (91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- Mary Poppins Returns (no reviews yet)
- A Quiet Place (95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes)
- A Star is Born (90% rating Rotten Tomatoes)
Four of my favorites made the list: A Star is Born, Eighth Grade, A Quiet Place, and Black Panther!
As far as TV shows go, the top ten according to the AFI are:
- The Americans (FX)
- The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (FX)
- Atlanta (FX)
- Barry (HBO)
- Better Call Saul (AMC)
- The Kominsky Method (Netflix)
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Video)
- Pose (FX)
- Succession (HBO)
- This is Us (NBC)
To be totally honest with you, I don't watch a single one of those shows. I haven't even heard of a few of them! I guess I need to stop up my TV game.
Did any of your favorites make the lists? Let us know in the comments!
