YUM!

When it comes to French fries, I'm not one to discriminate. I love ALL types of fries made from potatoes, except for sweet potato fries. Those can go right in the trash.

The website Zippia recently did a survey to find out the most popular types of fries in all 50 states based off of Google search data. The article reads:

"Using Google Trends, we determined what type of fry each state eats a disproportionate amount of. We looked at nearly a dozen different types of fries. From there, we determined what type of fry is searched a disproportionately, high amount in each state."

Here in Iowa, we're apparently big fans of waffle fries. Actually, waffle fries were tied for the most popular choice overall. 12 states went with waffle fries and 12 went with cheese fries. I say we just put some cheese on the waffle fries so we can make everybody happy!

Waffle fries were the top-searched type of fry for quite a few of our Midwest neighbors, including Minnesota, Missouri, and Kansas. South Dakota's pick was tater tots, Wisconsin went with curly fries, and Illinois chose steak fries. Some of the other top choices across the U.S. were crinkle fries, shoestring fries, chili cheese fries, and sweet potato fries.

I put together a list of some of my favorites fries in the Cedar Rapids area, and yes, I did include tater tots, because why not? Here are some photos to make you hungry!
