Get ready, pet-lovers! A big event called the Eastern Iowa Pet Expo is just a few weeks away.

Bass Farms in Mount Vernon will play host to the Eastern Iowa Pet Expo on Saturday, May 1st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you're not familiar with the event, the official Facebook page reads:

"This is a vision for several non profit animal rescues to all come together and make the public aware of all that goes on in the animal rescues and cost."

The Facebook event page lists 19 different animal organizations that will be present throughout the day, including two that we work with for our Furry Friday segments: Dogs Forever and SAINT Cat Rescue. Some of the other groups attending are Fluffy Butts Rescue, Cedar Valley Pit Bull RescueCritter Crusaders, the Cedar Valley Humane Society, and the Iowa Humane Alliance. The Iowa Humane Alliance will actually be offering microchipping for dogs and cats for only $25 during the event, and some of the other rescues will be bringing adoptable pets for attendees to meet!

In addition to the rescues and other non-profit organizations, there will also be around 40 different vendors at the event, with many of them focused on items for your pets. Some of those vendors include Kaitlyn's Pupcakes, Pupper Mom Apparel, the Barkery, Who’s Barking NowDog Mom Decals, and Doodle Doggie Treats.

Pets are welcome at the Eastern Iowa Pet Expo as long as they're up to date on their vaccinations, so feel free to bring them with you! Admission is $5 for ages 10 and up,
$3 for ages 4 to 9, and free for children under 3. You can get additional info about the event on Facebook HERE.
