The Christmas Songs Iowans Love (and Hate) the Most
Tis the season! With Christmas music just about everywhere right now, we decided to start a debate to find out the holiday songs people love and hate the most.
According to Billboard, the most played Christmas songs on the radio this week are:
- All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey
- It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams
- Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
- A Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives
- Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms
I'm sorry to say that my personal favorite Christmas song didn't make that list. Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" is certainly up there on my own personal chart, but my favorite Christmas song ever is "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" by *NSYNC. Don't judge me! I grew up in the 90s...
On the OTHER side of things, the Christmas song I hate the most is "The Christmas Shoes" by Newsong. Why? Because it makes me cry EVERY TIME. I hate Christmas songs that make me sad! Christmas songs should be happy!
Those are my personal picks, but we got a TON of responses this week when we asked these questions on our Facebook page. Here are some listener opinions on the best and worst Christmas songs of all time:
