There's a fun new Halloween event happening this month for kids in the Cedar Rapids area!

The Cedar Rapids Jaycees are excited to host their first annual Trunk-or-Treat Fundraiser for two local organizations: Fur Fun Rescue and S.A.I.N.T. Rescue (Saving Animals in Need Today). It will take place on Sunday, October 27th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jaycees' Center, which is located at 225 5th Ave SW in Cedar Rapids. Some of the fun activities they have planned include a photo booth, temporary tattoos, music, a cookie walk, and, of course, the trunk-or-treat, with both candy and allergy-friendly treats available for the kids. The cookie walk will cost $1, with all of the proceeds benefiting the animal rescues. Don't worry, all the participants will be awarded a cookie!

Instead of a charge to attend the event, the Jaycees will be accepting cash and item donations for Fur Fun Rescue and S.A.I.N.T. Rescue. Items they are looking for include:

  • Dog collars
  • Dog harnesses
  • Dog leashes
  • Dog toys
  • Cat toys
  • Covered cat beds
  • Hand warmers
  • Paper towels
  • Garbage bags

Please be aware that food and treat donations CANNOT be accepted.

The Jaycees would also like you to know that the event will happen rain or shine thanks to their indoor facility, which will be available in the case of bad weather. For more information, visit the Facebook page HERE.
