    'Fast and Furious 6'

Normally we would have a rule about including any movie with 6 at the end of its title on our list of The Best Movies of 2013. But what can we say? 'Fast and Furious 6' was a lot of fun. Granted, it doesn’t have the best plot in the world, but the action sequences are exquisite. Who could forget the tank chase scene!? Also, this movie has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in it, which automatically scores it some awesome points.

    'This Is the End'

What happens to our comedians and actors when the end of the world hits. Chances are they would all die. That’s exactly what 'This Is the End' is about. It has one of the longest casts playing themselves, including Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and even the Backstreet Boys. Granted, there’s a lot of fart jokes and stoner humor here, but it’s leagues above similar movies like 'Scary Movie 5.'

    'The Conjuring'

'The Conjuring' is an interesting horror movie. It’s like if a found footage movie like 'Paranormal Activity' was redone with an actual budget. Horror pickings were a bit slim this year, but 'The Conjuring' was a great way to scare yourself silly, if you were into the whole ghosts and demonic possession sort of thing. The retro 70’s haunted house aesthetic of the movie was also a great throwback to classic horror tales of yore.

    'Spring Breakers'

'Spring Breakers' is a mixing pot of a whole bunch of shocking buzzwords that somehow come together to create a watchable movie. It has girls on spring break, drug dealers, gun fights, jail scenes, and more. Also, it’s directed and written by Harmony Korine, who did such absurd films as 'Trash Humpers' and 'Mr. Lonely.' It’s the perfect gateway drug to this bizarre film creator’s works.

    'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'

Legolas has nothing on Katniss Everdeen. This amazing sequel to 'The Hunger Games' puts Katniss and Peta through all sorts of torture, physical and psychological. That scene with the birds that scream like your loved ones had us having nightmares for weeks. For anyone who hasn’t read the book, this movie sheds lots more light on the backstory of the capital and the districts and why the Hunger Games are being held. For anyone who has read the book, this is a faithful adaptation that won’t leave you disappointed.

    'Man of Steel'

Our next entry on our 10 Best Movies of 2013 list is also one of the most divisive. Half the movie-goers out there think 'Man of Steel' is crap and half think it’s awesome. We aren’t here to argue about whether or not Clark’s father would have realistically given his life in that tornado or whether or not Superman could have done anything else other than kill Zod at the end of the movie… er… spoiler warning. We are here to claim that this movie has some of the prettiest punching that we have ever seen. The special effects were second to none and seeing Metropolis get the crap beaten out of it as a result of Superman’s epic fight scenes was a feast for the eyes.

    'Star Trek: Into Darkness'

J.J. Abrams is a genius. Turning Star Trek into an action thriller series is just what the franchise needed. 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' has everything a Star Trek fan wants from a Star Trek movie. It has Kirk being a badass, it has Spock being a badass, it has political commentary, it has Leonard Nemoy, it has space battles, heck it even has Kahn. KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN! However, unlike many other Star Trek movies this movie has awesome special effects and explosions.

    'The World’s End'

'The World’s End' is a new Simon Pegg movie about a group of childhood friends who reunite in their adult years to go on an epic pub crawl. However, it turns out that there is much more than just 12 pints at stake as they try to make their way to The World’s End tavern. Their drunken stupor will eventually determine the fate of humankind as they know it. How does your blood alcohol level have to be before you are too drunk to fight invading robot armies?

In space, no one can hear you scream… which is really unfortunate when a routine space mission goes horribly horribly wrong. 'Gravity' is a powerful movie that really gets across how vast and uncaring the blackness of space is. Sure it gets a couple things wrong in terms of how physics works and the positioning of space stations, but as long as you keep yourself from nitpicking too hard you enjoy this deep space survival story.

    'Iron Man 3'

Somehow, the Iron Man franchise just keeps knocking it out of the park. This time around, the movie takes a personal look at Tony Stark’s life, dancing dangerously close to his alcoholic years. It also brings back The Mandarin in a fantastic way that is, surprisingly, not racist! Aside from the incredible plot, the special effects are still as fantastic as ever, blending the high tech Iron Man suit in perfectly with the performances of Robert Downey Jr. and feeding our eyes with explosions and amazing flight sequences. This is perhaps the first Iron Man movie that isn’t necessarily about how awesome Tony Stark is… though he is still pretty awesome nonetheless. It’s a perfect example of comic book movies done right and that’s why it’s number one on our list of the 10 Best Movies of 2013.
