A New Country Nightclub Has Opened in the Corridor
Country music is taking over Iowa City! A new bar called Tequila Cowgirl is now open for business.
Tequila Cowgirl began welcoming customers at 347 S. Gilbert Street the weekend of August 16th and 17th. The country nightclub is located inside the former home of Bardot, which first arrived in 2014. According to the Iowa City Press Citizen, Tequila Cowgirl is owned by the Spectrum Hospitality Group, which also owns Studio 13 and AlleyCat in Iowa City, as well as Basix in Cedar Rapids.
The Facebook page for Tequila Cowgirl describes the bar as a "country tavern where we showcase our love of Tequila & Cowgirls! Plus ice cold beer, sports, country music, and more!" They offer all sorts of drink specials, frozen cocktails, more than 60 kinds of tequila, and food. An article from the Daily Iowan says they serve "classic bar fare," including burgers, pizza, loaded fries, and chicken sandwiches. Food is available Sunday through Thursday until 9:30 p.m., but on Friday and Saturday it's served until 1:30 a.m.
As far as drink specials go, Tequila Cowgirl has a different one every day of the week. That includes buy-one-get-one for one cent margaritas on Mondays, $1 wells on Tuesdays, $3 beer boots on Fridays, and $3 tequila on Saturdays. There are live DJs Tuesday through Saturday and karaoke on Sunday and Monday nights, and free line dancing lessons will kick off on Thursday, September 26th at 8 p.m.
Tequila Cowgirl is open Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday & Sunday from noon to 2 a.m. For the latest updates, you can visit the official Facebook page HERE.
Tequila Cowgirl is the second country-themed bar to open in Iowa City in 2024. Giddy Up at 118 S Clinton Street began welcoming customers back in February.
