Summit Pipeline Turns On The Radio To Rally Iowa Farmer Support

Farmers and landowners across Iowa have been pushing back as the Summit Carbon Pipeline campaigns for land access across its nearly 2,000-mile route.

According to an update back in April, the pipeline has secured 136 of the 681 miles that will run through Iowa- which is 20 percent of the Iowa route.

But people are skeptical about what having the pipeline on their land would mean.

To help address some of the big worries that landowners and neighbors have, Summit Carbon Solutions announced a new radio ad campaign that will highlight how the company’s pipeline will open new opportunities for ethanol producers and help farmers across the Midwest.

Jake Ketzner, Summit Carbon Solutions Vice President of Government and Public Affairs released a statement about the campaign saying

Summit Carbon Solutions launched its carbon capture and storage project to drive the future of agriculture and support corn growers who sell nearly half of their crops to ethanol plants every year. The ad we are launching today highlights how this critical investment will maintain strong land values and a strong marketplace for corn in the years to come.

The radio ads will run statewide in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

According to a release from Summit Carbon Solutions, the project will also help spark economic growth in the Midwest by creating more than 11,000 jobs during construction and 1,100 permanent jobs during operation.

Another concern people have had with the pipeline is gaining land access. There has been a lot of debate over whether or not eminent domain will be used to get access to the remaining land.
