Salsa Guy Cafe Reveals Second Cedar Rapids Location!

Less than one year after opening the first brick-and-mortar location on Mt. Vernon Road, owner Tim Palmer has revealed where the second Salsa Guy Cafe location will soon open in Cedar Rapids!

The Salsa Guy was a favorite at many Cedar Rapids downtown farmers markets, and on August 13th, 2024, Palmer opened up his first restaurant location at 2874 Mt. Vernon Road SE. The salsa and sauces that made him famous would find their way to the new restaurant, as would all-day breakfast burritos, pulled pork sandwiches, and throwback sandwiches from the days of Alfalfi's Delhi, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. 

The restaurant gained more headlines when they were named one of 10 finalists for Iowa's Best Burger in March. The Gazette reports that the Conquistador Burger got the attention of the Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. The burger would come in second place in the competition.

Back in May, Palmer announced that he would not be at any of the Cedar Rapids downtown farmers markets this summer, but that the reason was that he was preparing to open a second Salsa Guy Cafe location! And now we know where it will be!

The Gazette reports that the second Salsa Guy Cafe will be located at 3925 Blairsferry Road NE. The building is a former Wendy's restaurant that has been vacant for four years. Renovations are underway, and Palmer told the Gazette that he hopes to have this Salsa Guy Cafe location open by Labor Day! Palmer stated that this new location is perfectly located and that "I can’t go to a map and put my finger on a better location than this restaurant."

The Gazette reports that several new menu items will appear at the new location. Business hours will also expand to Monday through Saturday, and a newly launched app will help with drive-thru and to-go orders.
