Rock Top Bar To Reopen Soon Under New Name

New details are emerging about the restaurant that will replace the closed Rock Top Bar off of Blairsferry Road in Cedar Rapids. Local businessman Richard Pankey purchased the property after Rocktop closed after just four months in business.

The restaurant will now be known as Axel's Sports Grill. It will feature an updated kitchen setup aimed at getting people their food faster. There will also be a private dining area included. Pankey says that he hopes that people give the new restaurant a chance, even if they had a bad experience at Rock Top.

Pankey says he hopes to have Axel's open by the middle of March. Hiring could begin as soon as next week.
