A Free Outdoor Concert Series Will Return to Cedar Rapids in May
There's nothing like a free, outdoor concert on a beautiful summer night! NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids is gearing up for their annual Rock the Block concert series.
Rock the Block will officially kick off on May 10th and run every Friday through August 23rd. Each show is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Here's a look at the 2024 band schedule:
- May 10th - Surf Zombies
- May 17th - Crazy Delicious
- May 24th - Gold Revere
- May 31st - Alicia Monee
- June 7th - The Invisible Band
- June 14th - Molly Nova & The Hawks
- June 21st - The King of Mars
- June 28th - Young the Lion
- July 5th - Isaac Jordan
- July 12th - Running in Place
- July 19th - Evan Stock Band
- July 26th - Fight Paper Box
- August 2nd - FunkDaddies
- August 9th - Betty Calling
- August 16th - Newski
- August 23rd - Fresh Fighters
There are a few guidelines for NewBo's Rock the Block. First of all, NO outside food or beverages are allowed, aside from reusable water bottles. Organizers encourage attendees to purchase snacks from the small businesses within the market, including:

- Capo Italian Beef
- Caribbean Kitchen
- Full Bowl
- K.C. Cakes
- La Reyna
- Lori Ann's Candies
- Luna Gelato and Ice Cream
- CR Midnight Smoker BBQ
- Oja
- Pita'z Mediterranean Cuisine
- Roasters Coffee House
- Saatvik Swaad
In addition, any alcohol purchased must stay within the designated barriers, and smoking is prohibited. Seating for Rock the Block is on a first-come-first-served basis. If you plan to stay while, bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. Admission is absolutely FREE.
